Thiazolidinediones
A type of oral medication for type 2 diabetes.
Triglycerides
Lipids that are produced from the break down of dietary fats and a form in which fats are stored in the body.
Type 1 Diabetes Mellitus
A type of diabetes mellitus where the insulin-secreting capacity of pancreatic beta-cells is completely ruined. It is characterized by a rapid onset and generally occurs before middle age. The condition also is known as insulin-independent diabetes mellitus.
Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus
This is the most common type of diabetes. It usually develops later in life, is associated with obesity, and is characterized by a combination of insulin resistance and beta-cell dysfunction. It also is known as non-insulin dependent diabetes mellitus.
