Lactic Acidosis
Occurs when toxic levels of lactate build in the blood. Can lead to loss of consciousness and can occur during biguanide therapy.
Lipases
A type of digestive enzymes that are produced in the pancreas and in the small intestine. They break fats into fatty acids and glycerol.
Liver
An organ that is in the upper abdomen. It assists in digestion and removes waste products and old cells from the blood. The liver is the largest solid organ in the body.
