Hyperglycaemia
-
A typical condition associated with diabetes mellitus. It occurs when levels of glucose are elevated in the blood. There are no obvious effects, but the condition can lead to many long-term complications.

Hyperinsulinaemia
-
Occurs when blood insulin levels are too high. Related to insulin resistance.

Hyperlipidaemia
-
Occurs when there are higher than normal levels of fat and cholesterol in the blood.

Hyper

A prefix meaning "excessive."

Hypo
-
A prefix meaning "too little of."

Hypoglycaemia
-
Occurs when there are very low levels of glucose in the blood. The condition leads to muscular weakness, confusion, sweating, and, in severe cases, can lead to coma. Hypoglycaemia is a result of many anti-diabetic treatments.

HDL
-
High density lipoprotein.

Headache
-
A pain in the head that occurs above the eyes or the ears, behind the head, or in the back of the upper neck. Can have many causes.

Heart Disease

Any condition that affects the heart. Heart disease is the same as cardiac disease but is not the same as cardiovascular disease.

Heart Failure
-
The inability of the heart to keep with the demands placed on it. When this occurs, the heart does not provide adequate blood flow to the brain, liver and kidneys. Signs and symptoms of heart failure include shortness of breath, asthma, pooling of blood, swelling, blueness, and enlargement of the heart. Can be a risk of using the drug Avandia.
