Beta Cells
Cells in the pancreas that produce insulin.
Biguanide
A type of oral anti-diabetic drug that is used to treat type 2 diabetes. It acts by reducing the amount of glucose produced by the liver and increases glucose uptake b y the muscles. An example of a biguanide is metformin.
Blood Glucose
The primary sugar that is found in the blood. Glucose is the main source of energy for the body.
Blood Glucose Level
The amount of glucose in any quantity of blood. The unit is milligrams in a deciliter, or mg/dL.
