Beta Cells
- Cells in the pancreas that produce insulin.

Biguanide
- A type of oral anti-diabetic drug that is used to treat type 2 diabetes. It acts by reducing the amount of glucose produced by the liver and increases glucose uptake b y the muscles. An example of a biguanide is metformin.

Blood Glucose
- The primary sugar that is found in the blood. Glucose is the main source of energy for the body.

Blood Glucose Level
- The amount of glucose in any quantity of blood. The unit is milligrams in a deciliter, or mg/dL.
